Board of directors
Dave Medina President and CEO
After retiring as a project manager and systems architect for electronic commerce business systems, he began producing YouTube videos for Unity Grand valley of Grand Junction Colorado, and helped support his wife’s (Gretchen), suicide postvention group (as their newsletter editor).
With the support of Grand Valley Yoga festival, Unity Grand Valley, his wife Gretchen, and so many other contributors, he was able to produce the documentary “A Thorn in Your Soul”.
The documentary was well received by veteran organizations
Christine Moore - Board Member
Christine is a Yoga Therapist, yoga educator and an accomplished dancer. Her passion for movement inspired her to become a yoga teacher.
While her son was serving in Afghanistan, Christine began her yoga journey to enhance her dance teaching. She fell in love with yoga and began teaching yoga to veterans at the VA Hospital in Denver. Christine currently leads a Yoga for Veterans class at Yoga V Studio in Grand Junction, CO through Comeback Yoga.
Teaching veterans was the catalyst for her continuing yoga education in mind body connection, accessible, adaptive yoga and Trauma Informed yoga. These passions encouraged her certification as a yoga therapist with The International Association of Yoga Therapy IAYT.
Christine’s love of movement and empowering people through dance, inspired deepening her studies, focusing on Hindu Goddesses. She incorporates a playful, somatic experience to help us access the Goddess’ energy we all contain within.
Jonathan "JD" Davis, CPA - CFO
With a background in accounting, finance, and operational strategy, JD enjoys helping businesses. JD started his career in the construction industry working for Oldcastle for 10 years where he advanced from doing CAD drawings to estimating to project management, while also pursuing his accounting degree part-time. Upon getting his degree he advanced his leadership roles in the Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis departments for several large corporations like Southwest Airlines, Neiman Marcus, Pilgrim's Chicken, and Petco.
Eventually the entrepreneurial spirit was too much, and JD decided it was time to go out on his own. JD left the Fortune 500 world and started doing as many CPAs do and prepared lots of tax returns.
While preparing those tax returns JD realized a couple of things; business owners really need tax planning help throughout the year to avoid April surprises, and most small businesses need more than just tax planning for their business's financial success.
John Brinkman - Retired Army Officer
John served in the Army as a Nurse. He can be seen in the documentary “Bagdad ER” carrying a finger.
Dave met John at the local veteran coffee. He had recently retired to Grand Junction CO. John is a prize winning disk golf enthusiast. He has participated in several local tournaments.
He was key to making our documentary “A thorn in your soul” as cameraman, and has given his input; that was vital to the creation of the documentary.
Kat Blehm
Kat was not only one of the interviewees in the documentary “A thorn in your soul” , she quoted some of the prime messages in discussing suicide; such as "It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." from Krisnamurti.
She has been a great help to Gretchen’s Heartbeat of Grand Junction during this years “Run 4 Rikki” event at CMU; that raises money for suicide awareness.
